The web & internet, where do we even start? It has been the pivot to everything we do today. Back in 1989, Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist, invented the World Wide Web (WWW). Today it is the single largest entity that drives most of humanity. We can’t imagine life without the web. It’s sheer size and information has vastly contributed to its growth. Most of our daily time is spent on the web, on an average over 6-7 hours, both on the mobile and desktop. We are used to looking at the web through a browser in a certain way. This blog is all about introducing a revolutionary new web browser that will change everything in browsing.
Here are some staggering facts:
- There are over 4.1 billion users on the web. That’s over half the world’s population.
- As of December 2018, there are approximately 1.94 billion websites in the world.
- Over 4 million blog posts are published on the Internet every day.
- Over 5 billion Google searches are made every day.
- Google drives 96% of mobile search traffic. (Source: https://www.hubspot.com/marketing-statistics)
- By 2019, 63.4 per cent of all mobile phone users will access the Internet from their mobile phone.
- There are 3.7 billion global mobile Internet users as at January 2018.
After looking at these stats it’s safe to say that a LOT of people are using the web. However, we observe a trend here that indicate an inclination to the mobile in the recent past years. There are several reasons for this such as ease of use, mobility, the advances in the smartphone and affordability of mobiles. Now let’s get to the web on the mobile. Over 55.9% of the traffic is on the mobile as compared to the desktop. In 2018, 52.2 per cent of all website traffic worldwide was generated through mobile phones, up from 50.3 per cent in the previous year. By 2020, mobile commerce will account for 45 per cent of all e-commerce activities — compared to 20.6 per cent in 2016. These numbers are only increasing by the year simply because of the sheer of the scale of users adopting mobile.
Traditional Web Browsing
Mobile web browsing has made its way to everyday life. Among the different browsers, Google Chrome dominates this market has over 70% of the market share followed by safari, firefox and internet explorer. Stats are great, but I want to bring to focus the way we all use these browsers. In all the browsers, a user will generally input a query and a list of search results appear. Users will have to scroll top to bottom to get the most desired result and click the link they desire. Upon clicking, a different tab opens up with that link address. Now imagine the case where the user needs to parallelly look at search links. That would mean having different tabs. Multiple tabs on the mobile can be a hindrance at the time and hence we have designed an all web browser.
The New-Age, Next-Gen SWIPE Browser
AppBrowzer presents for the very first time a revolutionary swipe browser. So what’s it all about? Located at the bottom-right of the AppBrowzer app, it is a brand new mobile web browser that allows users to search the web with ease. As the name suggests, it gives users the option to swipe to different links for a search query. In turn, saving a lot of time and effort by the user. The swipe function has served us well in the smart apps on AppBrowzer, such as for shopping, social media, travel, deals and others. After seeing the success and usability of this feature across AppBrowzer, we decided to integrate this into the web browser in our app.
What you get:
- Search Bar: a standard bar that allows you to input any query
- Top Sites: the top categories users can access
- Things Around You: such as ATMs, Food, Drinks, Hospitals, Stores and Salons
- Trending Live
- Trending Today
We introduced this browser into AppBrowzer to give users an easier way to browse the web. In the home page, you get access to all the mentioned items above. In addition, at the bottom, you can access all the different tabs in one shot.
We believe this simple but profound feature will change the way users will surf the web on the mobile. Recently we hit over 1,000,000 users on the play store, thank you so much for all the love and support! Follow our blog to get the latest from Team AppBrowzer!
